Description When it first opened, it was a station that handled freight.
There is a rotary in front of the station, and the station building was modeled after Nagoya Station, which was said to be the finest building in East Asia at the time of its construction.
Nearby is Mount Niikura, famous for its clusters of irises. Furthermore, on July 18th, 2009 (Saturday), the station was reborn as a station designed by industrial designer Eiji Mitooka.
With this renovation, the concept is to transform Shimoyoshida Station into a 21st-century modern station while preserving its retro charm, allowing visitors to once again experience the novelty and wonder it had when it first opened. The station features a spacious atrium with boldly placed ceiling paintings, benches inspired by the ridgeline of Mount Fuji, and a concourse with a center table, creating a relaxed atmosphere unlike anything seen in previous stations. It is a space where visitors can enjoy views of Mount Fuji and cherry blossom trees while at the station.

In addition to the regular train ticket, a limited express ticket is required.

[Mt. Fuji View Express / Fujisan Express]
You can use the section between Mt. Fuji and Lake Kawaguchi with just a regular train ticket.
Additional charges apply for reserved seating or special cars.

[JR/Fujikyu Railway Direct Limited Express Fuji Kaiyu]
The "Fuji Kaiyu" is a limited express train that operates directly on JR lines. In addition to a regular train ticket, you will need either a reserved seat limited express ticket or an unreserved seat ticket to ride this train. If you are only using the Fujikyu Railway line, please purchase an unreserved seat ticket.
